PromoMadrid, Desarrollo Internacional de Madrid, S.A. is a regional government-owned company, incorporated in 2004 with the purpose of promoting and developing the Region of Madrid internationally from an economic perspective. PromoMadrid acts under the authority of the Madrid Regional Ministry of Economy and Finance Affairs. PromoMadrid´s objective is to support local companies in the Madrid Region throughout their internationalisation activities, to attract and retain foreign investment and to carry out and support actions which aim to enhance the presence, perception and appraisal of the region, its companies and institutions, as well as its cultural heritage and economic potential. The Parque Científico de Madrid is a non-profit foundation created in 2001 by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). The PCM is ascribed as a Foundation in the Madrid Ministry of Education. The Foundation’s presidency is held by one of the two promoting universities’ Rectors and alternates every two years. The PCM’s aim is to promote research, development and innovation, paying special attention to interdisciplinary aspects, transferring knowledge to society, businesses and entrepreneurs; and implementing R&D&i results in products, processes and services that favour social well-being and progress. Although the PCM is a generalist Park, its main sectors of scientific and business development activities are life sciences and chemistry, information technology, new materials and nanotechnology, and environmental sciences and renewable energy. In order to do this, the PCM runs a Business Development Unit designed to support the creation and development of technology based businesses, as well as to transfer knowledge and technology, and Technology Development Units, which provide high level scientific services to public and private research groups. |
